The 4th Colloquium of the Max Freiherr von Oppenheim Foundation was held at the University of Halle – Wittenberg from March 26 to 28, 2025, on the theme »Studies on Late Hittite Art – 50 Years Later: A Memorial Symposium for Prof. Dr. Winfried Orthmann.«

From November 27 to 29, 2025, DFG Research Group 2615 “Rethinking – Governance in the Ancient Near East” convened the international conference “Oriental Societies 2.0 – Governance of Scholarship, Imperial Agendas, Societal Engagement and Entanglement”, supported by the Max Freiherr von Oppenheim Foundation at the Freie Universität Berlin.

The Foundation celebrated its 90th anniversary with a ceremony on November 20, 2019 at the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum in Cologne. Professor Hermann Parzinger, President of the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz, Berlin, gave the keynote lecture “Archäologie und Politik – Damals und heute” (Archaeology and Politics – past and present).
